Man learns hard way not to break into UFC star Derrick Lewis’ car

Word of advice to potential thieves: if you decide to break into a car, maybe make sure it isn’t owned by one of the most frightening men in America first.

UFC heavyweight contender Derrick Lewis taught that lesson to one man the hard way. On Tuesday, Lewis posted a video on Instagram of a man trying to break into his car, and subsequently being arrested by Houston police.

“Mofo try to break into my s–t,” Lewis said in the video, showing off the damage the man did to his c ar.

Though, it was allegedly not before Lewis taught him a bit of a lesson on his own. He also showed off bruised knuckles on his Instagram story with the caption “satisfaction,” while also clarifying that the thief was “ok.”

Jodi Silva, a public information officer for the Houston police department, told MMA Fighting that Lewis found the man trying to break into his car with a screwdriver at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.

“Mr. Lewis says he went over to the suspect, struck him, placed him onto the ground until the police arrived,” Silva said. “That’s the nicest way to put it.”

The thief was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries and was booked for criminal mischief. According to the report, the charges were not more serious “because our winner did not get into the vehicle.”
