Man stumbles, wife down stairs in NYC metro station: police

A man who was celebrating his birthday was stabbed by an unruly assailant – who then dropped his wife down the stairs – inside the Bronx metro station earlier this week, police said Thursday.

A 37-year-old man who was drunk by a couple during a Manhattan celebration, boarded a northbound 4 train with his 33-year-old wife at Bowling Green Station at 7:45 pm Tuesday when the couple spotted a man. According to police and police sources, in the combative acting train.

The husband told the stranger – telling him to shut up – and the quarrel continued all the way to the Bronx, where the couple lives, police said.

Police said the pair landed at the ground station above East 170th Street and Jerome Avenue, where the stranger began following them up the stairs.

He allegedly stabbed the male with a knife to the back of the head and the right side of the torso.

When the woman tried to intervene, the suspect pushed her down the stairs before unloading her. There were injuries to his right leg and right side of his torso.

Both victims were taken to Lincoln Medical Center in stable condition.

Surveillance footage released by police showed the suspect to be about 30 years old, 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a black Nike baseball cap, a blue face mask, a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants and black sneakers with a black bag.
