When your quarterback throws for just 110 yards, it’s not normal that your team wins the game — by seven points, no less. That’s exactly what happened to the Giants on Sunday at MetLife Stadium. Daniel Jones threw for 110 yards, but 99 rushing yards from Devontae Booker and a pick-six as part of a two-interception day for Xavier McKinney propelled Big Blue to a 23-16 win over the first-place Raiders. The Giants improved to 3-6 as they enter their bye week tied for second place in the NFC East.

To talk about the big win over the Raiders, we bring you a new episode of the “Blue Rush” podcast with two-time Super Bowl champion Lawrence Tynes and Paul Schwartz. Former Pro Bowl QB and “NFL on CBS” analyst Trent Green stops by to talk about the game and playing with Tynes in Kansas City.

Blue Rush Podcast with Paul, Lawrence & Jake:

  • BIG WIN: Giants defense came up big when they needed it. Shut down the Raiders in the red zone. McKinney is an ascending player and had a monster game. His pick-six was the difference in the game. Defense is finally hitting its stride and will have to keep it up as the offense tries to find its groove. Joe Judge and coaching staff deserve credit. After a strange week of COVID false positives and missed practices, the team beat a good Raiders squad.
  • BOOKER/OFFENSE: Hard to win a game when your QB throws for only 110 yards, but Giants did just that. Booker had his best game as a Giant, running for 99 yards. He’s not a big talker, but he filled the void of Saquon Barkley nicely on Sunday. He’s been a good signing for this team.

Former Chiefs Pro Bowl QB, Rams Super Bowl champion, ‘NFL on CBS’ analyst, Westwood One Radio ‘MNF’ analyst

  • DANIEL JONES: Hard to evaluate with all the injuries, but likes DJ.
  • KURT WARNER: People wanted to make them enemies, but they were not. They had different paths to get where they were.
  • JOE JUDGE: Dick Vermeil was a hard-nosed coach. Guys today barely practice compared to when he played. Judge is always dialed in.
  • TYNES/HARLAN/EAGLE: Memories playing with Tynes in KC. Working with the likes of Kevin Harlan and Ian Eagle at CBS.
