Melinda Gates reportedly hired private island to escape media

In March, Bill and Melinda Gates planned to announce their surprise divorce – and they hoped to avoid the media glare by renting a remote, private island in Grenada for the family.

But the Microsoft co-founder, with whom she has been married for 27 years, was not called to the 80-acre Caribbean islet, according to the outlet, stating that everyone in the family had favored Melinda.

Melinda decided to go either way despite the efforts of the couple’s lawyers, what the outlet described as an unfriendly split during this outing.

The same day they announced their separation, Bill’s investment firm transferred $ 1.8 billion in stock to Melinda – the first indication of how one of the world’s richest couples would divest its substantial assets.

The philanthropic couple announced their divorce on Monday in a joint statement.
