In the top of the ninth inning of Friday’s Mets-Dodgers contest. With the score tied 4-4, Max Muncy was staring down an 0-2 count. When his eyes got hit with something entirely different.
A bright green light from what appeared to be a laser pointer shown down from the stands at Citi Field, first hitting Max Muncy shoulder and chest before navigating up to his eyes.
“That’s just awful,” said Mets announcer Ron Darling. “Can’t happen.”
Muncy ended up striking out after the incident.
