The ‘90s and early aughts might be back in full force fashion-wise, but Miley Cyrus is doing her best to bring back the ‘80s.
The country-turned-rock-turned-pop star, 29, performed at both Lollapalooza Argentina and Lollapalooza Chile over the weekend, wearing a slew of skintight catsuits that wouldn’t feel out of place at a Mötley Crue concert.
Last week, the former “Hannah Montana” star teased the performances on Instagram, posing in a sheer, one-shouldered Maison Close onesie ($325) paired with pilot-style Moncler Diffractor Sunglasses ($585).
After arriving in Argentina, she greeted fans in athleisure brand Koral’s Jet Infinity Jumpsuit ($145), which features a dramatic low back with skinny straps.
To complete the rock ‘n’ roll aesthetic, she chose Moncler’s Phantom Shield Sunglasses ($320).
To take the stage at Lollapalooza Argentina, Cyrus wore a low-cut, silver-striped leather catsuit by punk rock icon and Scottish designer Pam Hogg, who has fittingly dressed Siouxsie Sioux and Debbie Harry of Blondie, as well as Taylor Swift for her “Bad Blood” music video.
And for Lolla in Chile, Cyrus opted for an electric blue Maison Close bodysuit ($179) tucked into matching leggings ($204), mimicking the look of — you guessed it — a second-skin catsuit.
The costumes perfectly matched the tone of the superstar’s rock-influenced “Plastic Hearts” record, throwing it back to the looks Harry, Pat Benatar and Joan Jett wore onstage — with a bit of a 2022 twist, courtesy of a cutout or two.
It’s fitting that the musician would choose to channel Jett, as her song “Bad Karma” features the former Runaways frontwoman.
Cyrus still has two dates on tour left, including the Asuncionico Festival in Paraguay and Lollapalooza Brazil — and they’re sure to be full of more leather and spandex.
