Miley Cyrus teared up while paying tribute to her late pal Taylor Hawkins at Lollapalooza Brazil on Saturday.

“We had to make this emergency landing and the first person that I called was Taylor, because he was already at the festival,” Cyrus said of the Foo Fighters drummer, who died on Friday.

Cyrus, 23, was referring to the private plane she took earlier this week. The crew had to make an emergency landing after being struck by lightning en route to the Asunciónico Music Festival in Paraguay. The Foo Fighters headlined the music festival one day prior.

“That would’ve been a time that I would’ve gone to see my friend, and I didn’t, so it makes me really sad,” Cyrus said with a trembling voice as she wiped away a tear.

“I would’ve done anything to hang out with him one more time.”

Three days after Foo Fighters performed at the music festival, Hawkins was found dead in a Colombian hotel. He was 50.

It was later reported that there were multiple drugs found in the room, according to a report that cited Colombia authorities.

“I know that I get on stage, and anytime that I get to play with my band – which if anything ever f–king happened to any of them it would f–king kill me, so I couldn’t imagine how the Foo Fighters feel today,” Cyrus continued.

The “Malibu” performer then dedicated her song “Angels Like You” to Hawkins. The camera then flashed to audience members – many of whom were also crying.

Ahead of the show, Cyrus took to Twitter to share the many emotions that were running through her head as she was about to hit the stage.

“I am just feeling heart broken & ‘human’ today…. But I am putting on my super hero suit and going to be strong not only for YOU but for ME! I want to live my truth AND MY MESSAGE! Never give up!” Cyrus wrote in one of her many tweets.

Cyrus has been a fan of the Foo Fighters for years, and became closer with Hawkins when they worked together for their Billy Idol collaboration “Night Crawling.” The track was featured on Cyrus’ 2021 rock crossover record “Plastic Hearts.”
