The Queens lawyer allegedly murdered by a disgruntled client was stabbed at least 20 times, authorities said Tuesday.
Charles Zolot, 65, was discovered by a janitor around 5:50 a.m. Thursday lying face-up in the second-floor conference room of his office at 37-06 82nd Ave. in Jackson Heights, officials and sources said.
He had been stabbed at least 20 times “all over his body,” according to a release from Queens DA Melinda Katz’s office.
Suspect Nando Perez, 64, of the Morrisania section of the Bronx was busted Monday and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with Zolot’s death.
A search warrant was executed at his home, where investigators confiscated a knife, t-shirt and a bloody towel, police sources said.
Sources told The Post on Friday that Zolot’s killer had been dissatisfied over a home foreclosure. Zolot handled real-estate transactions in his work.
“The defendant is accused of confronting the victim in his law office, stabbing him repeatedly and then leaving him to die,” Katz said.
Sources said investigators were also eyeing Perez’s 66-year-old brother in connection with the crime.
Police officials could only confirm Tuesday that another man is being sought but would reveal any further information about him or his alleged role in the incident.
Perez was arraigned late Monday and faces up to 25 years to life behind bars if convicted, prosecutors said.
