Nax guard’s condition worsens with Emanuel Quickley’s injury

On Thursday night, the depth of the knock guard against the Orlando Magic will be tested even more severely.

Rookie Immanuel Quickley will miss the game due to a left-handed ankle, the Knicks announced, connecting with fellow point guards Elfried Peyton (right hamstring), Derrick Rose (health and safety protocol) and Austin River (personal reasons).

Quickley had started the previous two matches against Brooklyn and Philadelphia, but Frank Nitilika would likely replace him against the Magic. Reserve guard Alec Burke has also spent some time on the ball in recent games, and the Knicks (20-21) run much of their offense through power forward Julius Randle, who would have led the team with 5.8 assists per game is.

Little-used point guard Jared Harper, who has not appeared in a game since 31 December, can also see action after spending time with Westchester in the G League bubble.

Quickley said Tuesday after a loss to the 76ers that he injured his ankle in the first quarter, but he remained in the game and “just ruled it out.”
