Mayor of Omaha, Neb., Was the husband of Jean Stort Found dead at family home Friday afternoon, according to reports.
The Oma World-Herald reported that Joe Stort, 72, was a board-certified critical care physician and worked as the medical director of the Omaha Fire Department’s paramedic training program for 18 years.
According to FOX 42 of Omaha, the mayor’s office said in a statement, “It is with great sadness today that we share the tragic loss of Joe Stotter with family, friends and our loving community.” “The dedication and affection for all of them served as a bright light of human kindness for all of us to follow.”
The family has asked for prayer and privacy, “so our family can grieve and remember an extraordinary and caring husband, father and grandfather,” according to the statement.
According to the Omaha World-Herald report, officers responded to a report of a gunshot wound to the house shortly before 2pm. Police did not provide details about the shooting.
Nebraska Village. Pete Rickets said that he and his wife were “shocked and saddened” by the news. “From his service on the State Trauma Board to his work with the University of Nebraska Medical Center, he dedicated his life to others,” Ricketts said in a statement. “We are praying for Joe, Jean, Elizabeth, Andrew, and the entire Stothert family during this difficult time.”
