‘Cause she’ll always be his baby?
Nick Cannon seems to pine over his ex-wife, Mariah Carey, in his new song “Alone,” which dropped on Valentine’s Day.
Not only does the track sample Carey’s 1990 single “Love Take Time,” but Cannon also includes some pretty emotional lyrics that appear to be directed at the Queen of Christmas.
“I say I’m cool when I know I miss it / I’d trade it all for the case / If I could have you back / If I could go back to where we started at,” he sings.
Cannon, who is expecting his eighth child, also seems to suggest that while he wants to reunite with Carey, he knows she deserves better considering his latest baby drama.
“As much as I want you back / It’s probably better where you at / ‘Cause I’m still running the streets / I’m still all in the sheets / Having babies / Models and singers and actresses saying they pregnant by me,” he sings.
And if that’s not enough to convince listeners Cannon is serenading his former wife, a press release reportedly describes the song as “an ode to Mariah Carey.”
The “Wild ‘N Out” host, 41, admitted he was feeling lonely Monday when he tweeted the link to listen to his new tune.
“This is for anybody else who is #ALONE on Valentines Day… I had to come Raw from the heart on this one. #Broken #Shattered #Toxic #RAW&B #Alone,” he wrote.
Cannon and Carey, 52, were married from 2008 to 2016 and share 10-year-old twins Moroccan and Monroe.
The “Drumline” actor revealed in January that he is expecting a child with Bre Tiesi, just a month after sharing the heartbreaking news that he and Alyssa Scott had lost their 5-month-old son, Zen, to brain cancer.
Cannon also shares 4-year-old son Golden “Sagon” and 1-year-old daughter Powerful Queen with Brittany Bell. He also has 8-month-old twins Zion Mixolydian and Zillion “Zilly” Heir with Abby De La Rosa.
Carey, for her part, has been dating dancer Bryan Tanaka on and off since 2016.
