The number of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in New York fell below 2,000 for the first time since Nov. 14, Gov. Kathy Hochul said Saturday.
The patient count stood at 1,999 Friday with 349 people being treated in intensive care units, Hochul said.
Of those hospitalized, 919 were admitted for COVID-19 and the rest for another condition but were found to have the virus.
Of the COVID-19 test results that came back Friday, 2,213 or 1.88 percent were positive. The positivity rate in New York City, when measured on a seven-day average, was 1.23 percent Friday.
There were 33 COVID-19 deaths Friday, including 10 among New York City residents.
