A vindictive mother and son have been sentenced to more than two decades in prison each for the brutal killing of a Queens man over $350 in car repairs.
Avita Campbell, 40, and Raymond Jackson, 25, both of Valley Stream, LI, pleaded guilty last month to first-degree manslaughter and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon in the September 2020 fatal shooting of Lasaaun Lawrence, 27, in Far Rockaway.
On Thursday, a judge sentenced Jackson, who was identified as the shooter, to 24 years behind bars; his pipe-swinging mom was handed a 22-year prison stint.
“A dispute over a small sum of money ended with a young man being senselessly executed,” Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said in a statement.
“His killers are going to prison for a long time for their cold-blooded viciousness.”
According to prosecutors, Lawrence went to Campbell and Jackson’s home on Sept. 23, 2020, to recover $350 he believed Jackson owed him for a car repair that wasn’t done, and the two men got into a fight.
Shortly before 6 p.m. the same day, Jackson and Campbell were caught on surveillance video getting out of a white BMW on Beach 31st Street in Far Rockaway, with the son carrying a gun and the mom wielding a metal pipe.
The duo approached Lawrence as he sat in a double-parked car — and Jackson fired a dozen shots at him, striking the victim multiple times.
After Jackson stopped shooting, Campbell slammed the windshield of Lawrence’s car with the pipe, shattering the glass, prosecutors said.
Jackson and Campbell then got back into their BMW and sped away, leaving Lawrence to die.
About a week later, the mother and son — riding in the same white BMW used during the shooting — . were pulled over by cops because Campbell was driving with a suspended license.
Cops searched the car and recovered a loaded silver-and-black Smith & Wesson 9mm handgun inside a book bag, which ballistics tests later proved was the murder weapon in Lawrence’s shooting.
Police also found a notebook and spreadsheet with hundreds of names, addresses and social security numbers, which they charged Campbell planned to use for fraud.
The woman was additionally carrying nearly two dozen forged gift cards and two credit cards in other people’s names.
But Campbell and Jackson were set loose before they were officially linked to Lawrence’s slaying.
Jackson, who later fled the state, was busted in Florida in December 2020 and extradited to New York to face charges for Lawrence’s death.
Lawrence’s siblings previously told The Post the young father-of-two was murdered for trying to recoup $350 for body work that Jackson was supposed to do on his dollar van but never did.
“My brother lost his life right here over $350,” said Latonya Evelina, Lawrence’s older sister.
