Parents, teachers demand reopening of NYC schools

Parents, teachers, students and coaches created a ruckus outside the headquarters of the Department of Education on Saturday and demanded that New York City schools reopen completely.

He chanted “open school, open school”.

A student placed a sign that said, “I have been doing 11 days of school since September 2020. Does this make any sense ???”

“Children should be in school. it’s urgent. She said she has lost too much learning ability in the zoom classroom, ”said Catherine Garcia, the city’s former sanitation commissioner, who is running for mayor.

City Council candidate Maud Maron said that there were more than 700,000 students who have not seen inside the classroom in a year.

“Our schools are safe,” said third grade teacher Eleni Philippatos.

The teacher said, “There is no reason to keep me and my students at home for 10, 20 days a day.”
