Prince William and Kate Middleton surprised their fans with a new photo of Princess Charlotte in honor of a cause near and dear to them.

In the photo, the 6-year-old royal delicately holds onto a butterfly while standing among gorgeous flowers.

“We wanted to share these beautiful Peacock and Red Admiral butterflies as part of Big #ButterflyCount initiative taking place across the UK,” the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wrote alongside the Saturday photo dump, which also included close-up pictures of the insects.

“@savebutterflies are encouraging us all to count these incredible creatures because not only are they beautiful creatures to be around but they are also extremely important,” they explained.

“Butterflies are vital parts of the ecosystem as both pollinators and components of the food chain. Hopefully you can beat last year’s total, @savebutterflies ?.”

The last photo the royal couple shared of their daughter was in honor of her birthday in May. The casual shot showed Charlotte in looking adorable in Rachel Riley’s floral button-front dress ($85).

The Duchess of Cambridge is no stranger to a life behind the lens. Middleton, 39, usually snaps all of three of her children’s portraits. At the end of July she shared a new photo of Prince George, who will one day be king, in honor of his 8th birthday.

Royal expert Robert Lacey recently revealed that George has been told that he will one day be king, despite his young age.

“Sometime around the boy’s seventh birthday in the summer of 2020, it is thought that his parents went into more detail about what the little prince’s life of future royal ‘service and duty’ would particularly involve,” Lacey wrote in his new, updated version of “Battle of Brothers” (via Daily Mail).
