Rachel Platten is a fighter.
The “Fight Song” singer welcomed her second baby during a home water birth that she says was a “grueling” ordeal that lasted over two days.
Platten, 40, announced the news of the Sept. 9 birth Wednesday, as she shared the first photos of her and husband Kevin Lazan’s newborn daughter, Sophie Jo.
“Introducing Sophie Jo Lazan. Born 9/9/21 at home in a water birth after 2.5 grueling days of labor. When I thought I couldn’t take anymore, this amazing, wise little one kept whispering to me ‘we can do this mama, we can do this’” she wrote alongside the adorable pics.
“So i kept going one contraction at a time,” she continued. “I feel like a warrior and I will NEVER doubt my strength again. Thank you Sophie for showing me what I am made of and for completing our family.”
She concluded the post by thanking her fans, adding, “And Thank YOU all so much for your love and support and for allowing me the privacy these last couple of months to just be with my family and prepare for this new life. Sending you all the coziest new baby snuggles. ? please, please positive comments only. ?”
Platten announced she was expecting in April 2021 during an appearance on “The Talk.”
“I realized when I got asked to do the show today, I was like, I haven’t announced this yet,” she told the show’s hosts. “I guess I’m going to have to announce this. So, this is my announcement!”
Sophie Jo joins big sister Violet Skye, who was born in January 2019.
Last year Platten released a children’s book called “You Belong” which is about her excitement and nerves about becoming a mother.
