Risky pass-roller follows Jaylen Waddle

No matter what happens in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, only 10 players can be taken before the Giants are ranked No. 11. So, when a lot of bigoted fanatics (you know who you are) cry “That won won’t be at number 11! When one of these mock draft exercises is done, sometimes it is an accurate feeling and often it does not happen.

For those who cannot show this player or that player on the board when the Giants are on the clock, take a deep breath. Top 10 picks must have at least four quarterbacks. After that, almost anything happens.

The thinking here is that the Giants are hell-bent on continuing to improve the league’s 31st-order scoring offense and insist that the early stages of this three-day event will flow.

For this legendary Mock Draft 3.0, after going with the Pro Football Focus Simulator for Mock Draft 1.0, we used the Pro Network Network Simulator for the second week in a row. Ready, Set, Select:

Round 1 (No. 11) – WR Jaylen Waddle, Alabama

Previous choice: Waddle; EDGE Aziz Ojullery, Georgia.

Why a wide receiver after opening the vault in free agency for Kenny Golladay? Waddle is a different cat altogether, the closest thing in this draft to Tirik Hill, ball-in-hands, explosive-wise. In this simulation, Tait and Kyle Pitts, Offensive Tackle Peenei Sewell and Rashawen Slater, wideouts Jamers Chase and DeVonta Smith and cornerback Patrick Sartain II all went and were unavailable to the Giants. There is discussion about dealing with Christian Darissov and linebacker Micah Parsons, but Wadele wins based on the skill set he provides, and Daniel Jones’ strong desire to surround him with more and more weapons.

Round 2 (No. 42) – EDGE Jaelan Phillips, Miami

Previous choice: LB Zwen Collins, Tulsa; WR Kadri Tony, Florida.

In the formula inject “what does the NFL pass rusher look like” and the result could be Phillips’ physique. This 6-foot-6, 260-pound edge rusher has all the accessories. He had eight sacks in 2020 and can look like an animal on the field. Why did he go to the second round? She has a fun medical history that needs to be fully explored. He actually retired after his second conclusion at UCLA before retiring and transferring to football. The Giants need Philips to offer and gamble.

Round 3 (No. 76) – OL Spencer Brown, Northern Iowa

Previous choice: DL Milton Williams, Louisiana Tech; Ol Quinn Mennerz, Wisconsin-Whitewater.

This huge (6-foot-8) tackle can and will add bulk to his 311-pound frame and is an athlete – he played tight end and defensive end in high school before converting to an offensive school. He scored 14 from the right start in 2019 (he did not play in 2020 when his schedule moved to the spring schedule) and brings developmental potential and a cheat contest for Matt Peart.

Round 4 (No. 116) – OL Kendrick Green, Illinois

Previous choice: green; DT Tyler Shelvin, LSU.

Back to back offensive lineman? Why not? Green plays on the interior and can emerge as a rugged and dirty guard at the next level. Not that we forget, Will Hernández is entering the final year on his contract and was sold by this veteran coaching staff in 2020.

Round 6 (No. 196 overall) – S. Jacobi Stevens, LSU

Previous choice: EDGE Malcolm Coonsey, Buffalo; Stevens.

Is he an underseat liner or oversized safety at 6 feet 1 and 212 pounds? The Giants would hand that puzzle over to their brain defensive coordinator Patrick Graham. Stevens does his best work close to Screamz’s line – he tackled 21.5 career tackles for a loss to the Tigers.

Round 6 (No. 201 overall) – CB Trey Brown, Oklahoma

Previous choice: LB Ernest Jones, South Carolina; LB Justin Hilliard, Ohio State.

While the Giants try to smooth out rough edges on defense and turn Brown into an NFL slot corner, they will stick him on their special teams units, where he is a relentless and aggressive gunner and coverage demon.
