Patriots owner Robert Kraft was said to be far from thrilled with Tom Brady’s retirement post on Tuesday, in which the quarterback failed to mention the team that had been a substantial part of his epic 22-year career.

Ted Johnson, a former Patriots linebacker, claimed that Kraft had a “temper tantrum” over Brady’s lengthy message, which included nods to loved ones and Tampa Bay, where Brady played for two years after leaving New England in 2020.

“I was told earlier tonight that … it was an unpleasant day today at the executive offices in Foxborough, and that Robert Kraft initially when he first heard the news was very upset,” Johnson said on NBC Sports’ “Boston Sports Tonight.”

Kraft, who released his own statement Tuesday congratulating Brady on a prolific career, was said to have been “screaming” and “yelling” over the quarterback’s choice of words.

“He was screaming and he was yelling and there was … a temper tantrum that he threw after he read this IG post. So, he was not happy about it in Foxborough, and I’m not surprised, but to hear about the outward emotion that he showed regarding this post was a little bit surprising,” Johnson said.

Brady did briefly thank the Patriots later in the day Tuesday, and he also expressed gratitude for the organization in his goodbye message to New England in 2020.

Kraft, however, isn’t the only member of Pats Nation who apparently took issue with the sendoff. Scott Zolak, a former New England quarterback, called out Brady for his “calculated” message.

“He’s either one cold, calculating son of a b—h to where you can release that and say, ‘That’s it, that part of my life is done. This is my new venture. And it was Tampa Bay and now I’m just gonna thank those [people]. I already did New England, now I’m doing you’ … this would be a massive ‘F’ you to the fans,” Zolak said Tuesday on his show on 98.5 The Sports Hub.
