Rochester teen accused of setting man on fire

A couple of teenagers were allegedly set on fire inside their own home in New York.

The boys, ages 14 and 16, are accused of spraying a flammable liquid to the victim and lighting it on fire while he sat in a chair in Rochester on Friday afternoon, Democrat and Chronicle reported Monday.

According to the newspaper, the victim, who was not identified in his 50s, was identified by the police and suffered 70 and third degree second and third degree burns to his body.

Rochester Police Capt. Frank Ambrino said the man is in critical condition and “fighting for his life”.

The Democratic and Chronicle stated that the aged teenager was arrogated over the weekend and at the age of 14 on Monday.

The police have not released their names as they were charged as juveniles.

Authorities are still investigating how the teenagers knew the victim and are searching for any additional witnesses or suspects in the case.

“Investigations are ongoing to determine whether it was a deliberate criminal act or accident,” Rochester Police told WROC-TV, Adding, “This is an active check.”
