Seattle police shut down beach after TikTok party gets unruly

Seattle police shut down a beach and park Saturday after a party promoted on TikTok got unruly – with multiple fights, a robbery and other incidents in a crowd reportedly in the hundreds.

Three people were arrested at Alki Beach Park before it was closed – two men were busted for fighting and a woman was booked for a minor assault on an officer, the Seattle Police Department said in a news release.

Crowds flocked to the park due in part to a videos promoting a gathering on the social media app that had local cops patrolling the area as a precaution, The Seattle Times said.

As many as dozens of officers were on the scene, local TV station KING5 estimated.

One video promised to be “more lit” than “Adrian’s Kickback,” the two-day Huntington Beach, California party last week that spread on TikTok and led to the arrest of over 150 people, said the Times.

The Seattle party was called “Washington Kickback,” “Alki Beach Kickback” and other names, according to NBC News

Music was blasting by 7 p.m., fights broke out and drinking shenanigans ensued – like an 18-year old who was in and out of consciousness, according to the release.

Police also found an apparently intoxicated man pacing in the parking lot with a handgun, the release said.

The crowd completely blocked a trail that cops tried to keep clear for passing pedestrians at just before 9 p.m., police said.

At 9:30 p.m. two men were busted for fighting and an officer who broke up the fight ended up with a fractured thumb, police said. A woman at the scene was arrested for “a minor assault” on a different officer, according to the release.

Police started to clear the area by 10 p.m. as the Seattle Parks department closed Alki Beach. Roads were closed in the area, beach fires were put out and partygoers were told to clear the area – but that still wasn’t the end of the chaotic night.

One woman reported being pepper sprayed, some partygoers threw bottles at cops and danced on jumped on police cars, according to the department. Fireworks were lit in the crowd, the release stated.
