Simone Biles was shining bright on her 25th birthday.
The Olympic gymnast celebrated her 25th in an early aughts-inspired silver chainmail dress, and showed off snaps of the plunging mini on Instagram during her Turks and Caicos vacation with her fiancé, Jonathan Owens.
With its deep draped neckline and serious shimmer, the style was almost as sparkly as Biles’ stunning engagement ring.
It also bore a striking resemblance to the iconic chainmail frock Paris Hilton wore for her 21st birthday party in 2002.
“As soon I put that dress on, I knew it was iconic,” the heiress-turned-entrepreneur told Page Six Style in 2019 of the look, designed by Julien Macdonald. “I’d never seen anything like it before, and it was so me.”
In the decades since, plenty of other style stars have put their own spin on Hilton’s dress; Kendall Jenner recreated the look
with help from Labourjoisie for her 21st birthday in 2016, while Blake Lively and Hilton’s former assistant, Kim Kardashian, have also worn their own versions of the metallic mini.
Even Nicky Hilton attended a 2018 Casamigos Halloween party dressed up as her sis.
“To see so many people using it as inspiration is just the best. Even just on Instagram, I’ve seen so many replicas,” the “Simple Life” star previously told us, adding that she doesn’t care that people copy her style.
“Imitation is the highest form of flattery,” she said. “I mean, it’s the ultimate birthday dress. Everybody should wear that dress on their birthday.”
Biles clearly took that advice to heart. While she hasn’t shared where she found her dress, a near-identical sparkling mini from Meshki is available online for $205.
The athlete also recently said yes to two dresses that might be even more important than the famous party frock: the Galia Lahav gowns she’ll wear when she marries Owens in 2023.
