Why have an apple a day when you can have sex three times a day?
Suzanne Somers believes that getting it on is key to leading a healthy lifestyle.
“I do feel that a healthy person is a sexual person,” she told Page Six exclusively at Clive Davis’ 90th birthday bash Wednesday. “So many women say, ‘I’m over that,’ and I say, ‘It’s only because you don’t have the right triggers anymore.’”
The “Three’s Company” alum chalks up women’s waning interest in sex to hormones and has written dozens of books on the subject.
“I like to inspire all the women who read my books,” she explained. “I teach them about restoring hormones and nutrients, and you have to move every day, otherwise you lose it. You get out of it what you put into it.”
Somers, 75, made headlines last year for declaring that she and her husband, Alan Hamel, 85, are still active in the bedroom — sometimes three times a day.
“At this stage of life, most people think that’s, you know, over the hill, too much information,” she explained on the “Heather Dubrow’s World” podcast. “But what time is it, like noon? I’ve had sex with him three times so far today. What is it about 4:30 in the morning that suddenly, there he is? I’m going, ‘Could you just wait until the sun comes up?’”
The actress told Page Six that the key to the couple’s prodigious sexual friskiness is simple: date nights.
“We have a date almost every night, and I find that very important,” she shared. “We’ve been together 54 years, and it started about five years ago.
“I’d be writing all day, and my husband would buzz my office and say, ‘Wanna date?’ and that meant we’d meet at the outdoor bar and we’d share a tequila,” she continued. “We laugh and dance and sing. There’s something real relaxed about real conversation.”
Somers and Hamel married in 1977. She has a son, Bruce Jr., 56, with ex-husband Bruce Somers.
