The Paris Hilton-backed bill regulating juvenile care centers passes to the Utah legislature

A Utah bill supported by Paris Hilton to increase regulations on the state’s “troubled teen” centers was passed to the state legislature on Tuesday night.

Hilton, who testified in front of Utah state senators last month about the 1990 experience at Provo Canyon School, celebrated the passage of the bill on Wednesday Instagram posts.

“I am proud to state that SB127, the bill that I have testified on my behalf, has passed to the Utah legislature,” she wrote.

“This bill protects thousands of young people in residential care from cruel punishment, strip-search and confinement,” Hilton said.

During the February 8 testimony, Hilton stated that she had to endure “unconstitutional, abusive and horrible” insults at the school, The Deseret News Reported.

The report stated that staff allegedly saw him using the bathroom and shower and subjected him to “solitary confinement”.

Hilton said the bill “prohibits the use of chemical restraint and peer restraint, ensures that youth have uncompromising communication with their families, prohibits gender-based discrimination, creates suicide prevention policies, and а lot.”
