Police sources said a pipe-working man smacked an Asian woman in the face on Sunday afternoon after participating in a suspected hate crime race on the Lower East Side.
The victim, a 54-year-old woman, was walking near Grand and Ludlow streets when the lunatic approached her with a weapon and shouted “F King Asian!” His sources said.
The suspect, identified by sources as 34-year-old Elias Guero, allegedly hit him in the face with a pipe.
Law enforcement sources said that Guerro heard racist statements before pedestrians thrashed the woman near the busy intersection.
Sources said the woman had a cut in her left eye and nose and was treated at Beth Israel Hospital.
Guero was arrested soon after the attack. Police are investigating the beating as a possible hate crime.
