TikTok adds another way to remix videos with green screen duets

TikTok launched New feature today Combines existing duets and green screen formats, allowing people to use other TikToks as backgrounds for themselves. “Green Screen Duet” now appears as an option in the Couple Layout menu. Like all couples, the creator of the original video is tagged in the caption of the new one. This may be part of a larger news or more sensory overload in the app, depending on your senses.

The new feature will likely be a useful tool for those who already use TikTok’s “Green Screen” to place pictures in the background of their videos, or edit the video to create a similar effect. It can also create TikToks that are more responsive to other TikToks than DuT (where the videos are tiled next to each other) (where a clip of the original video plays for a few seconds before the new start).

TikTok wants to continue the new formats as other companies add TikTok-like features to their own apps. Instagram’s reels can now be “remixed” like the Tickcock duo. Snap says its Tiktok contestants reached 100 million users two months after Spotlight launched, and YouTube plans to pay creators who encourage them to keep posting using YouTube shorts.

For better insight into how the feature works, here is someone adding an explanation of sign language to a TechTalk that is already running among many users:
