Buccaneers fans expect Tom Brady to recruit Julian Edelman after retirement.
On Friday, Brady sowed the seeds during an Instagram exchange with his former Patriots teammate, who initially made fun of the NFL’s newly approved jersey number rule.
Edelman wrote on a photoshopped image of Brady in a Bukis uniform wearing “π” as his number, “@tombrady 12 is 2001, PI is eternal, just like you are eternal like your friend.
Brady, who on Wednesday expressed his disdain for the NFL’s revised jersey number rule, responded: “Now that you’re a free agent @ edelman11, are you buttering me up ??” He added a curious-face emoji.
Edileman, who knew of Brady’s pre-prominently plant-based, health-conscious lifestyle, was surprised to see the Star Quarter Butter Butters.
“Isn’t that a problem on the @ tb12 method?”
“I bubs up avocado oil,” Edleman joked.
This was enough to excite Bucs fans on a possible Brady-Edelman reunion.
One fan stated that “it’s entirely possible” as Brady played a key role in recruiting Buccaneers tight end Rob Gronkowski to join the Bucs after retirement. The move prevailed over Super Bowl 55 Chiefs of Tampa Bay in February.
Gronkowski initially retired as a Patriot in March 2019. He later decided to return to the field and traded with the Buccaneers in April 2020 and rejoined Brady.
Edelman, who helped New England win three championships and was the MVP of Super Bowl 53, announced his retirement on April 12 in a video posted on social media.
Edelman was limited to six games last season due to a knee injury, which eventually led to him deciding to retire. He later confirmed the next chapter of his career as an analyst on “Inside the NFL”.
Following the announcement, Brady resorted to social media to remind him of his days with his long-time receiver.
Brady tweeted, “On the biggest stage and in the biggest moments, you always came forward.” “You never lost that chip on your shoulder and you never let anyone define you as a person or a player. I’m proud of you Jules Love you.”
Edelman, who turned 35 in May, spent his entire 12-year career with the Patriots, playing alongside Brady.
While the two were potentially joking, Bucs fans are sure Brady can do it.
