Tom Brady is about to shatter another football record, even in retirement.
The ball thrown by The GOAT for the final touchdown pass of his storied career hits the auction block on Super Bowl Sunday — and is likely to become the priciest pigskin in history.
The prized football is expected to net at least $500,000, with predictions as high as $1 million.
“Anything is possible,” said Jordan Gilroy of Lelands Auctions, which offers the football through March 12. “We’re all stoked about it. It’s such an incredible piece of history.”
The current record for priciest parabola is the $428,000 Lelands netted last year for the football thrown by Brady for his first career touchdown pass in 2001.
Brady threw his final touchdown toss to Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans last month in the NFL divisional playoffs.
Evans, unaware Brady would soon retire, excitedly threw the ball into the stands as the Buccaneers mounted a failed fourth-quarter comeback effort against the Los Angeles Rams. The anonymous fan who caught the ball is the consignor.
In a quirk of fate, the receiver who caught Brady’s first touchdown pass also threw the ball to a fan in the stands. Milestone footballs are typically returned to the quarterback as a keepsake.
Brady tossed 710 regular-season and postseason touchdown passes in his 22 NFL seasons, far ahead of the No. 2 player on the list, Drew Brees (608).
It is unknown if the Brady balls are inflated to their full size.
