Uber travelers can book COVID vaccine appointments through the app

Uber said Wednesday that Uber travelers can make COVID-19 vaccine appointments at Walgreens drugstores across the US through the ride-hailing app.

The vaccine-booking tool is an extension of a previously announced partnership with Valgrens in which Uber said it would offer people some free rides so they could meet for their appointments.

“We are committed to helping ensure that transportation is not a hindrance to vaccination. We know that it will be easier to get appointments and more people will get vaccinated, ”said Uber CEO Dara Khosroshi. “By partnering with Walgreens, our goal is to make that shot as easy as booking a ride with Uber.”

With more people vaccinated and epidemic-induced sanctions relaxed, Uber is upset for a rebound from steep losses in 2020. The company’s ride-hailing business has already shown an impressive improvement, the best record yet in March.

Uber said it would allow users to appoint vaccines at Walgreens locations across the country through its app.
Uber said it would allow users to appoint vaccines at Walgrain locations across the country through its app.

Indeed, both Uber and Lyft have recently had to boost labor salaries in the midst of a swinging epidemic in the US demanding their services.

The vaccine-appointment facility is part of the company’s “Go Anywhere, Get Anything” campaign, which was unveiled Wednesday with new product announcements.

On Wednesday, Uber also said that users can now rent cars from Avis, Budget, Hertz and others through the app. Through another new feature, all users can now book an Uber by the hour leading up, so they can do things like pick up groceries without having to pay for multiple rides.

And the company is expanding its feature in which users can book up to 30 days of rides in a condition that US air travel will begin soon and people will want to ride from the airport.

Additionally, Uber introduced a number of features to better integrate its food-delivery service, which helped compensate for the company’s losses in ride-hailing during the epidemic. Users will be able to pick up food and wine while on an Uber trip through the “Pick Up and Go” option.

The company said that users would be able to bundle delivery orders from multiple locations, so customers could get takeout food and groceries together for example. The company will also pre-order food to users from a closed restaurant so that they are first in line when it opens.

The product rollout signals a future in which people are ordering food delivery to travel less and more. Uber is betting that as the transition occurs, it can enable people to use their app to ride-share people to use their food-delivery service.
