Self-proclaimed “nerd” Van Jones was dubbed a “hero” by his college friends back when rumors circulated that he was dating Kim Kardashian.
In an exclusive sneak peek of Wednesday’s episode of his podcast, “Uncommon Ground with Van Jones,” the CNN host made the confession to the Skims founder, who is his guest.
“I know it was so weird,” Jones, 53, said of the romance speculation. “I was like, ‘No, we’re just working on trying to get people out of prison,’ but it was a cool rumor.”
“Yeah,” Kardashian, 41, said in response. “So many people asked me also and I was like, ‘You guys … I need a minute before I’m out there. You know? Give me a minute, at least.’”
The “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” alum filed for divorce from Kanye West, 44, in February 2021 after seven years of marriage and four kids together.
Meanwhile, Jones separated from his wife, Jana Carter, in May 2018 and their divorce was finalized in June 2019.
Prior to the ink being dried in Kimye’s divorce docs, fans were already advocating for Kardashian to date Jones.
One person tweeted in January 2021, “I try not to dip too deep into the gossip pool but Kim Kardashian & Van Jones is not far off base, she’s trying to pass the California Bar to become a lawyer. Van Jones is a lawyer. At least she’s calculated.”
“Kim Kardashian and Van Jones: An Inevitable Love Story,” wrote another.
By April, the newly-single Kardashian had become a hot commodity as Page Six exclusively learned she was being courted by royals, CEOs and A-list actors.
However, an insider told us at the time, “She’s not looking to jump into anything but is keeping an open mind.”
It wasn’t until Kardashian hosted “Saturday Night Live” in October 2021 that she was swept off her feet by comedian Pete Davidson. The couple have been going strong ever since.
Although the ship has sailed for Kardashian and Jones, the pair continue to work together on criminal justice reform and on helping the reality star become an attorney.
In December 2021, the “Kardashians” star finally passed the baby bar exam after three failed attempts.
She confessed to Jones on his podcast that she was “so nervous” on her fourth try.
“I thought … maybe [I’m] not meant to do this,” Kardashian said. “And you guys kept pushing me and, you know, obviously not to make any excuses, but you know, with four kids and work and so much going on, I realized I just wasn’t ready like at those times, but I never gave up.”
She added, “I was mortified every time I had to write you and be like, well, didn’t pass it this time. Well, didn’t pass it again.”
However, Jones encouraged her, saying, ”No way … Well, first of all, it’s almost impossible to pass. And the people who are usually taking it are people who can focus on it. You got four kids and all kind of stuff.”
The political commentator then revealed, “And by the way, I mean, most people don’t admit this, [but] I didn’t pass the bar the first time either.”
