White Sox’s Jose Abreu, Royals’ Hunter Dozier involved in horror collision

Scary moment in Chicago on Friday afternoon.

White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu and Royals third baseman Hunter Dozier were involved in a horrific collision after Dozier started running on an infield popup.

Dozier kept his head down and attempted to run towards the bag, while Abreu was coming from his defensive position to chase a fly ball. None of the players paid attention to each other before hitting about 30 feet from home plate.

The slow collision replays show that it was slightly more brutal than it initially appeared:

Both players stayed on the field after the tackle; Abreu held his head, while the dossier lay motionless for a while before getting up.

After the collision, Abreu and Dossier were ruled out of the game. The Royals will announce that the dossier is day-to-day with a quad intrusion and neck trouble.

The bump has a lot of beef: Dossier stands at 6-4 and weighs 220 pounds while Abreu is listed at 6-3, 256. Some are blaming Dossier for not getting out of Abre’s path because he didn’t have her. Head up during your run to first.
