Bowman finished third in the resumption with 10 laps, overtaking Hamplin and Joey Logano. Bowman crossed Hamlin in the lead for the lead and then built a large enough cushion, which was able to withstand the lap cars on the final lap.

Below is more about Bowman’s win, as well as the full results of Sunday afternoon’s race.

Who won the NASCAR race yesterday?

Hendrick Motorsports driver Alex Bowman took the checkered flag after passing both drivers after the final restart of the team’s pancakes Joey Logano and Danny Hamlin of Joe Gibbs Racing. Kevin Harvick took care when a tire in his car was cut and then slid into the outside wall. The 10 laps Bowman led to complete the race were the only laps he led on Sunday.

Bowman was surprised that he could not come forward because of how his 48 number car was run on short runs.

Bowman said, “To be honest with you, we were terrible on short runs.” “We start the third again and I like, we’ll be good if we get out of here with a solid top five. We went much further today.

“I don’t know whether [crew chief] Greg [Ives] The pressures were up or what it did, but a race car in Richmond has more grip than I have made and it works really well. “

NASCAR results from Richmond

Alex Bowman became the eighth different winner in nine races to begin the 2021 Cup Series season. The win at Richmond was the third win of his career.

Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin, Christopher Bell and Martin Truex Jr. made it to the top five. Hemlin won the first two stages of the race and led the most laps (207 out of 400), but had to settle for his eighth top-five finish (no wins) this year.

“We didn’t get very far from there in the end,” said Hamlin. “I tried to heat it up and did everything I could – just 48 (Bowman) was a little over those last few laps and I couldn’t hold down.”

The Cup Series will switch from short-track racing to superspeedway racing by next weekend, with races on the GEICO 500 (2pm ET; FOX, TSN, MRN, SiriusXM NASCAR Radio).
