Yankees hit five homers in the race for the Tigers.

The Yankees made signs of exiting on their eight-game road trip, but felt at home that they won a pair more.

Friday, they appeared to take a month of frustrations over a weak opponent and sent April in vigorous fashion.

The Yankees feasted on the Tigers, crushed five home runs and won 12 strikes from a dominant Gerrit Cole to Cruz with a 10–0 win at Yankee Stadium.

Aaron Judge, returning from a two-game absence due to unexplained lower body soreness, looked fine, ripping off a couple of home runs, including a stunning slam. Clint Frazier, Aaron Hicks and Ragnad Odor joined him in the home run parade, all coming in the first five innings, as the Yankees (12-14) quickly turned the game into laughter.

Giancarlo stayed at the Stanton ballpark, but collected his third straight three-hit game, as the Yankees piled up 15 hits.

Meanwhile, Cole played six century innings, allowing just four singles and none. He hit six straight Tigers at one time and now struck out 62 strikes through his first six starts of the season (37 ² / innings).

Stanton, who caught fire during the Yantis’ 5–3 road trip, stayed warm when he returned home. With one out in the first innings, he doubled the right-center field gap. He finished third on a wild pitch and scored on Gio Urshella’s RBI single to put the Yankees ahead 1-0.

After going home without his first 19 games of the season, Frazier ran for the second time in three games when he drew a single shot to left field for a 2–0 lead in the second inning.

The judge and Hicks joined the party in the third innings. The judge crushed the batsman’s eye to 436 feet in center field, before Hicks shot another left-handed shot to make it 4-0.

Then in the bottom of the fourth, the judge helped turn the game into a blast. After Stanton drilled another single to load another base with one, the judge worked a full lead before cracking a grand slam to right field on the second deck for an 8–0 lead.

Later during the inning, Hicks made it 9–0 when he popped a double-sided Wind-Aid down the left-field line, scoring Glieber Torres from first base.

Odor scored the Yankees’ fifth home run, putting a single shot on the second deck in the right field to make it 10–0 in the fifth inning.
