The Yankees have opted not to renew the contract of hitting coach Marcus Thames, The Athletic first reported on Thursday.
Letting go of Thames is the first major casualty to the Yankees staff after a disappointing AL Wild Card loss to the Red Sox last week.
Thames has been on the Yankees staff since 2016 and has been the hitting coach since 2018.
The contract of Yankees manager Aaron Boone was also up after this season, but it is believed he will return.
