Yankees prospect Oswald Peraza on ridiculous home run tear

It may be time to bounce a pitch towards Oswald Peraza to see if he also hits for a home run.

High-A is a Yankees prospect considered high on each of the last three pitches he faced for the Hudson Valley Renegades. The unbelievable streak, which included four home runs in his final nine at-bats, began when he drew a 2–0 pitch over the left field fence in the ninth inning on Thursday night and continued in great style on Friday.

Peraza, a shortstop, did not start the game – a regular day off according to the team – but entered the outing as a defensive replacement in the seventh inning following an injury to outfielder Steven Sensley. Peraza homered on the first pitch of both of his at-bats, including a two-run shot that saw him leap out of the batsman’s box in a 9–4 win.

The 20-year-old Peraza made just five home runs in his first 622 at-bat as a farmhand. He is ranked as the Yankees’ No. 4 prospect, According to MLB.com.

The Minor-League season is just two weeks old and already Peraza is the second Yankees prospect to go on an incredible home-run tear.

Estevan Florial, ranked as the No. 10 prospect after playing an MLB game last summer, hit four home runs in the season’s opening six-game series for the Double-A Somerset Patriots. Three of those homers led to the bottom of the first inning and earned his promotion to the Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre RailRiders, where he could be on short call with struggling Brett Gardner and Clint Frazier, and Aaron Hicks wrist. Could be out with an injury.
