TIC Toc Announced two new integration Thursday for your app: sharing audio in Tiktok using the new sound kit, and using your Tiktok account to log into other apps with the login kit. Developers can apply to use the new SDK to put the content of the short-form video app in even more locations, but they may leave the company and its users open to new privacy concerns.
The basic features of the login kit will look familiar. Facebook, Twitter, and Snapchat already offer similar integrations to speed up logging in the process. Like those other versions, Tiktok says that using the login kit allows users to securely log into other apps, but developers also have the facility to offer Tiktok content inside those apps, such as dating Add video to profile. Using login with TikTok requires you to use whatever app is allowed to view your public profile and video in order to work, but does not currently access other information that TikTok has in your Can know about
Logging in with another social media account is convenient, but it comes with some accessories. Facebook has been particularly criticized for the data it collects with Facebook logins. It is one of the sources of information at the center of the Cambridge Analytica scandal. TikTok has also been screened for its monitoring capability and previous version of the app that accessed the users’ clipboard. With regard to the login kit, Tiktok states:
Similar to the SDKs of other platforms, only data can be collected via TicketLock Login Kit, which are app names and associated events on our platform (such as event tracking for login and authorization).
One of the things that makes Tiktok compelling is the music it licenses to use in the video. With a sound kit, the library of music could theoretically be even bigger, without Ticketock signing new deals with the big music labels. The Sound Kit allows developers to share audio between their app and TicketLock, so if you create a particularly great mix in one app, you can start using it in your videos. To enable audio sharing, developers must integrate the login kit and the accompanying permissions into their apps.
Developers have to apply to use TicketLock’s tools and SDKs and follow the company’s guidelines, but it’s easy to imagine some possible sketch use cases for a sound kit, such as sharing audio without a manufacturer’s permission or Pirating the music. TikTok states that the sounds shared through the sound kit are treated like any other type of audio on the platform. Audio clips can be shareable either privately or publicly, and Tiktok says:
When a sound is shared in TikTok, we scan it for attentions to ensure original audio – if it is identified as professionally generated content, then we will place it in the music description page Let’s label
Tiktok is already incredibly popular, a social media app with great video tools, but maturing SDK-like login kits and sound kit shows. With the new SDK, there is an even greater possibility that Tiktok’s features can become as ubiquitous as embedding a tweet or sharing your Facebook friends list.
