Aaron Rodgers offers conspiracy theory about doppelgänger

It’s been less than a week since the world was introduced to Aaron Rodgers’ doppelgänger on “Sunday Night Football.” And while the lookalike spawned memes galore, the question is: Who is he?

Well, mystery solved it seems, as Pat McAfee said Tuesday on his show, the gent in question is “allegedly a Canadian Bavarian fella who currently lives in Germany.” The Packers quarterback, however, has since tossed a conspiracy theory into the mix.

“That was a total plant by NBC,” Rodgers quipped Tuesday on “The Pat McAfee Show.” “The thing that makes me think he might have been a plant is, doesn’t he turn to the camera and acknowledges the camera? Has he got a SAG [Screen Actors Guild] card?”

Although it remains to be seen if Rodgers will search the SAG database to test his theory, a Twitter user by the name of @SherbyFranky seems to be the leading candidate for the quarterback’s long-lost twin. In addition to using the hashtags “DoubleAaron” and “doppelganger” in social media posts, the user — who also goes by Frank — does have that whole uncanny resemblance thing going on.

Hours after Sunday’s game, @SherbyFranky took a selfie in his Packers beanie to cap off a “legendary weekend.”

“Finally Home, the end of a Legendary Weekend @packers,” Frank tweeted.

Should Rodgers’ toe trouble continue to be more a problem, perhaps the quarterback’s mirror image can suit up for the Packers instead. Frank, who Rodgers now follows, is only a Twitter DM away.
