Mourners gathered at the Charging Bull Sculpture in Lower Manhattan on Saturday and paid their respects to its creator after his death.
On Friday, friends said that the artist Arturo di Modica died in his hometown of Vitaloria, Sicily. He was 80 years old.
On Saturday, the flowers were draped over a bronze sculpture, a fixture for Wall Street tourists since it was installed on Broadway in 1989.
“Reposa at Maestro,” wrapped a yellow ribbon around the flower arrangement, read Italian for “Rest in Peace Guru”.

Di Modica installed the 3.5-ton statue overnight without permission.
“I see it less as a symbol of finance or anything like that. I see it as a beautiful gift for the city and I think that’s what the artist intended, “said Quartucci, 46.

David Walter, a 25-year-old Boston tourist, said, “Quartucci lives on in the name of the statue.”
“It’s a shame he’s gone,” Walter said.
