Dolphins Draft 2021 selection: When does Miami choose? Full list of nfl draft selections

Ahead of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins are wheeling and dealing. Originally, they had two first-round picks, Nos. 3 and 18, but they went down from the No. 3 pick with the San Francisco 49ers. Soon after the 49ers traded below the No. 12 spot, they jumped back into the top six after being traded to the Philadelphia Eagles.

When the dust settles, the Dolphins have two picks in each of the first three rounds, as well as each of the future draft capitals. With six of the first 102 selections, they continue to add depth to their already strong roster, but the No. 6 pick should guarantee them a shot at blue-chip talent.

So, what will the Dolphins do in this year’s draft? They will probably focus on building around Tua Tagovelloa. If they surround him with more weapons and fill in some of the holes he has created, they will have a greater chance of emerging as playoff contenders as they were last year.

Miami Dolphins need NFL draft

  • Wide receiver: DeVante Parker and Will Fuller figure to be a good pair for the Dolphins, but they have had some injury concerns over the years and Fuller is just on a one-year contract. Can any of Tua’s former Alabama receivers, DeVanta Smith or Jaylen Wadle, figure at No. 6?
  • Offensive line: The Dolphins should be in a position to land one of the strongest offensive lineman of the draft class. He drafted Austin Jackson and Robert Hunt and both tackled last year, but the added O-line depth is never a bad thing. The team also needs the help of the center, so perhaps the team can tweak their line and challenge Matt Skura for the starting job.
  • Edge rusher: Andrew Van Ginkel has been a surprisingly influential player for the Dolphins, but after trading Shack Lawson for Benardick McKinney, he needs to find Van Ginkel a long-term partner.
  • rushing back: Miles Gaskin and Salwan Ahmed looked good last year, and so did free-agent acquisition Malcolm Brown. That said, if Miami can add a high end to the draft, it will help go a long way in getting Tua out of the offense.
  • Linebacker: The Dolphins added McKinney to the fold and retained Alden Roberts, but they let the versatile Kyle Van Goy go. They will need to find a replacement for him and continue to build their lineback depth.
