The daily number of COVID-19 deaths in New York remained at one for the second day in a row as the positivity rate continued to rise, the latest state data shows.

A Queens resident died of the virus Friday, matching the death toll on Thursday when a resident of Eric County succumbed to the bug, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said.

The coronavirus positivity rate, when measured on a seven-day average, was 1.66 percent Friday statewide and 1.64 percent in New York City, Cuomo said Saturday. A day earlier, the positivity rate both statewide and in New York City was 1.58 percent.

There were 494 patients hospitalized for COVID-19 Friday.

The governor, citing federal numbers, said 74.3 percent of all adults in New York have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 67.7 percent have completed the vaccine series.
