Robert Griffin III was joined by a very special guest for Saturday’s Heisman Trophy ceremony in New York: his wife Grete.
The 31-year-old quarterback, who won the Heisman Trophy in 2011 while at Baylor, sat beside Grete at Lincoln Center, where Bryce Young later became the first Alabama quarterback to receive the prestigious college football prize.
“Heisman Ceremony,” Grete posted Saturday on her Instagram Story.
Later in the night, Grete also shared a photo of Griffin on stage with Young, who beat out Michigan defensive end Aidan Hutchinson, Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett and Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud for this year’s Heisman Trophy.
“@rgiii admiring the newest Heisman Trophy winner,” Grete wrote in a separate Instagram Story.
Following Young’s win, Griffin later congratulated the 20-year-old quarterback on Twitter.
“Congratulations to Bryce Young!!!” Griffin began Saturday. “Can’t think of a guy more deserving of the award. Welcome to the family brother.”
In addition to Griffin, fellow former Heisman Trophy winners were also in attendance for Saturday’s festivities, including Tim Tebow.
Leading up to the big night, Griffin III and Grete — who frequently get flirty on social media — revealed a holiday photo shoot with their fans.
“Everything I hold dear resides in those eyes,” Grete gushed of Griffin in an Instagram post from early December.
The former Washington quarterback, who recently revealed that he is writing a bombshell book about his former team, replied: “I see the star you are.”
