It’s been a long and winding road: Tokyo recently declared another state of emergency which will run through Aug. 12, meaning no fans will be in the stands to catch the Olympic games.

Even if fans won’t be able to take in the pageantry and general epicness of the opening ceremony, it’s still a marquee event for the 2021 Olympic games and viewers at home will be able to take in all four, glorious hours of it on Friday morning (or Friday night).

What channel is the opening ceremony on?

  • TV channel (U.S.): NBC
  • TV channel (CA): CBC

Viewers in the United States can catch the opening ceremony of the 2021 Olympics on NBC, the host of Olympic coverage, on Friday, July 23.

Make sure you clear your morning calendar if you want to watch: The ceremony will last about four hours, ending at around 11 a.m. ET.

In Canada, coverage of the Olympics opening ceremony will on CBC.
