“You can’t be the best if you don’t take chances” Jadon Sancho Finally Set to be Announced as a Manchester United Player

It’s been the big transfer story for the last four trading windows, but it looks as though Manchester United have got their player in the end. Rumours are that a deal in the region of £73 million has been agreed between United and Borussia Dortmund for Sancho’s signature. The England youngster has already agreed on personal terms, so it is only a matter of time before the announcement is official.

The 21-year-old is a hot topic of discussion in the German Bundesliga where he has been learning his trade since the age of 17. His impressive stats from last season which include 11 league assists and 8 league goals in only 26 appearances show how dangerous he can be. Manchester United have been crying out for a playmaker to run at defences and provide the final product, so it looks like a great signing. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to deliver a trophy this season, and Sancho will be key to his success. Most bookmakers on the list of the best betting sites in India are currently 9/1 (10.0) for United to win the Premier League, but this could change depending on what business they complete this summer.

There will no doubt be much fanfare over Sancho’s arrival, and fans would have got a glimpse of his skills at Euro 2020 with England. He made only two appearances in the tournament to the surprise of many and unfortunately despite a good performance against Denmark, he will be remembered for his final penalty miss. Soon to be teammate Marcus Rashford and 19-year-old Bukayo Saka were also not successful from the penalty spot which ultimately led to England losing the final. It took a huge amount of guts to step up to take one though, and this is what United fans will be impressed with.

Manchester United captain, and England defender Harry Maguire is quoted as saying:

“Jadon is a top player, exceptional talent, a young lad with a lot of experience”

So, it’s not just the fans who are looking forward to seeing him in Manchester red. Of course, Sancho is no stranger to Manchester either. At the age of 17, Manchester City sold Sancho to Dortmund. But even then, he wasn’t cheap. A fee of around £8 million was agreed and the youngster set himself a huge challenge of not only breaking into one of the world’s most well-known clubs, but to learn a new language too. He took this all in his stride and is now one of the most sought-after wingers in Europe.

Manchester City, however, inserted a sell-on clause as they knew how far Sancho could go. It’s a little bit ironic that they will take a share of the £73 million fee, but the Red Devils will not likely care. This is especially true since they have managed to drive Dortmund’s original asking price down by around 25%. Last summer when they made the approach to the German side, they were quoted a £108 million valuation. This is considerably higher than what they have ended up paying. Even at the start of this window, the price tag was £10 million more at £85 million. So, United will feel they’ve done a good bit of business.

It’s an exciting time for Manchester United with more signings rumoured to be coming to a close including veteran defender Raphael Varane. But it is the long-awaited transfer of Jadon Sancho that will make the rest of the Premier League stand up and pay attention. United are serious contenders for the league title this season.
