Jumina withdraws tenant advocate from City Planning Commission

Public advocate Zumaine Williams has withdrawn her nomination as a left-wing activist and tenant advocate of the City Planning Commission.

Last month, Williams formally recommended Cea Weaver for the agency’s appointment – but in a February 19 letter to Council President Corey Johnson, he wrote, “I ask the city council to withdraw her name at this time . “

A Williams spokesman told The Post on Thursday that it was Weavers’ request that his name be withdrawn from the nomination.

Weaver, a campaign coordinator for Housing Justice for All, a statewide coalition of tenant groups, has called for a rental and eviction ban by tenants due to the COVID-19 epidemic.
